Turning One Day into Day One

Turning One Day into Day One
What is your wildest dream? What would you do to turn your “One day” fantasy into “Day one” of your reality? It took me 4 years and 10 months to make my wildest dream of traveling the world come true. Last week I resigned. Tomorrow, I take flight. I stand here at the threshold between two chapters of my life, finding myself reflecting on everything that has added up to this exact moment.
I traded in a 20-minute walk for a 4-hour commute to work (yes, 2 hours one-way, it was soul sucking) so I could save on insane Manhattan rent, my social life went from me eating and going out daily to only scrolling through Instagram and Facetiming with friends. My hobbies included staying in, reading, doing research and sleeping. Of all the choices I made in the pursuit of my dream, the hardest choice was the first one; giving myself the mental permission to pursue this crazy idea. But, with my eye on the prize, every choice that came afterwards was easy.
What did I learn from all this? We are all born with a super power that gives us unlimited potential to make our passions come true. I’m talking about our power of will. As I pursued my dream, my will power got stronger and impossible ideas like quitting my job to travel felt less outrageous and more normal. This growing will power was breaking down my mental barriers and showing me that my life will always be limited to what I believe I can achieve. I finally, truly, deeply understand the saying “where there’s a will, there’s a way”. As I step into this next chapter of my life, I’m excited to see how far I can push myself. The euphoria from this renewed understanding of will power has me feeling limitless.
Thank you for staying with me this far. My adventure starts in Bogota, Colombia and I invite you to follow me on my journey around the world. I hope to discover more super powers and continue to have and make wild dreams come true.
I leave you with one question. What is your One Day to Day One game plan?
